Phoenix Summer Programme

Join Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service for an exciting, hands-on Phoenix programme designed to build confidence, teamwork and essential life skills in young people.

Delivered by our specialist Phoenix Team, this fully practical course gives participants the opportunity to take part in real firefighter-style activities. These include hose running, ladder drills, search and rescue exercises, firefighter fitness, use of fire hoses and hydrants, and live water (wet) drills. All activities are safe, supervised and scenario-based, with no real fire involved (artificial smoke may be used for training).

Although participants will arrive at Byker Community Fire Station (NE6 1EH), the programme will take place at Tynemouth Community Fire Station. Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service will provide minibus transport to and from Tynemouth each day. Pickup from Byker is at 9:30am, with drop-off at 2:30pm at the same location.

Programme dates:

18 & 19 August | 25 & 26 August
Participants must be able to attend all sessions.
